Catherine is responsible for developing the legislative planning framework for development in bush fire areas in NSW. This includes undertaking a major review of the NSW RFS document Planning for Bush Fire Protection and other supporting documentation. Catherine has an excellent knowledge of the issues surrounding development in bush fire prone areas and the approval process through her work as Team Leader of the Development Assessment Team at the NSW RFS. Catherine has used this experience to make improvements to the standards and policies governing bush fire protection measures for new development and has worked extensively with key stakeholders and industry representatives to understand key issues and challenges.
Catherine comes from a background in Town Planning with over 15 years of experience in development planning both in the UK and Australia. Catherine has worked on a range of high profile planning projects including managing the approval pathways for the temporary venues at the London Olympic Games in 2012. Catherine also managed the planning and legal team in the early development planning process for a third runway and sixth terminal at London Heathrow Airport. Catherine has worked on major development projects in NSW including development applications, re-zoning proposals and strategic level development.
