Sept 2017

Dear

Spring is here! Living in the mountains means we are very aware of the seasons.  Whilst we welcome more daylight and spring flowers we also know that the bushfire season is coming.

This week at the Hub in Springwood, we host the Bushfire Building Conference on Friday 8 September, and the Community Forum and Expo on Saturday 9 September. Tickets are still available for industry members to attend the conference, with the Saturday community event free for all to attend.

This event continues to grow after it was established in response to the devastating 2013 fires.  As the peak economic development agency in the Blue Mountains, BMEE continues to develop this event to establish the Blue Mountains as a Centre of Excellence in planning, design and building for bushfire-prone areas.  It promotes resilience in the local economy and generates economic benefit for the region by showcasing local talent and skills.

The MTNS MADE branding continues to be adopted by creative industries practitioners in the Blue Mountains, and our team are expanding the focus to develop sales revenues from outside of the Blue Mountains.  Over the last two months, our MTNS MADE Roadshow information sessions have been well received, from Glenbrook to the Upper Mountains.  We especially want to identify members of the creative industries sector who are ready to grow, so please get in touch with us to discuss your ideas.  This will help us achieve our job creation goals.

We are also busy at BMEE focusing on Education, Health and Wellness, Tourism and other World Heritage Industries.  For example, we are engaging with Universities, TAFE and other higher and vocational training organisations to further enhance the education opportunities in the Blue Mountains.

On a final note, Blue Mountains Economic Enterprise has recently endorsed the Destination Management Plan developed by council in consultation with industry. This plan will frame the future of the tourism industry in our region.  I encourage you to read it and think about opportunities that it presents.  You can find a copy on the BMCC website here.

Regards,

Bernie

MTNS MADE Roadshow success

“Thank you so much for last night, it was extremely informative. And walking away with some added connections was an extra bonus.”

Throughout July – August, BMEE hosted a series of information sessions to provide tips on implementing the MTNS MADE brand to enhance the profile of your creative business.
